Some of my favorite businesses

The following is my growing list of mission-driven, long-term oriented companies which I’ve become a fanboy of for one reason or another (in no particular order):

John Deere

Harley Davidson

Long Term Stock Exchange

Skull Candy

sticks to core values. Went public in 2011 and then back to private in 2016, choosing the path where aggressive growth target driven decision making trump culture and mission driven decision making.

Steinway & Sons

This 200+ year old business has built and maintained the best piano brand in the world. When you hear about a piano being “a Steinway”, you feel something. And even while quality is paramount, they aim to make their pianos available to the masses.

Trader Joe’s

lowest prices and highest revenue per sq ft, avoids media, low tech, focus on customer interactions, creates lots of jobs
